Time lines can tell us a lot. In the case of the BP oil spill, there are three major events to play connect the dots with, which create a map to the media blackout, which becomes more obvious every day.

A quiet panic is brewing among residents of Florida’s Gulf coast. People are starved for updates and official information, and the lack of them is accelerating conspiracy theories and rumors of a media blackout. Founded or not, to residents they are quite real.

When you pour more than a million gallons of toxic chemical dispersants on top of an oil spill, it doesn’t just disappear. In this case, it moves to the atmosphere, where it will travel hundreds, if not thousands of miles from the site of the BP oil spill, in the form of toxic rain.

Earl Allen Boek Iraq deadline, Obama say's It ain't over till
it's over. So much for that promise. The August deadline might be
seen back home as a milestone in the fulfillment of President
Obama’s promise to end the war in Iraq, but here it is more complex.
American soldiers still find and kill enemy fighters, on their own
...and in partnership with Iraqi security forces, and
will continue to do so after the official end of combat operations.

The pipe is 21 inches across. The cross sectional area of the pipe is a=pi r sq. or a=3.14(10.5)^2 a=346 sq inched.
One inch of pipe is 346 cubic inches

A gallon is 231 cubic inches. Every inch of pipe contains 346/321 gal or about 1.5 gallons. You can determine the scale of the pictures by looking at the pipe remembering that the diameter is 21 inches. My estimate is that about 2 diameters of the pipe (40 inches) pours out every second. That would be 60 gal per second. Half of that appears to be gas, so 30 gallons of oil per second.

30 X 60 = 1,800 gal per minute
18,000 X 60 = 1,080,000 gal per hour
1,080,000 X 24 = 25,920,000 gal per day
25,920,000/42 = 617,143 Barrels per day
